The Park View High School Forensics Team had a great season this year. Students worked hard from November through March, and the team placed second in the District as well as second in the Region. Three students, Jared Bagwell, Colter Powers, and Hunter Fowler qualified to compete at the state level. There are 10 categories in which students can compete, and for each category there are hundreds of students across the state trying to earn one of the 12 spots for state competition. Qualifying for state competition is a great accomplishment.
Jared Bagwell and Colter Powers, both juniors, competed in Humorous Duo Interpretation with the iconic skit by Abbott and Costello, “Who’s On First”. They placed first in District competition, first in Regional competition, and sixth in the state!
Hunter Fowler, a freshman, competed in the Serious Dramatic Interpretation category. It is rare to find freshmen who have made it to state. As stated, there are hundreds of students in each category across the state, and development of the necessary skills to be competitive at the state level often takes students at least one or two years. It is quite an accomplishment for any student to qualify for one of the 12 spots available at the state level, but it is even more so for a freshman to qualify for state competition. Congratulations to all three of these talented young men.
